New CEO appointed to Watpac

Watpac
has today announced the
appointment of
Ben O’Rourke, to the position of Chief Executive Officer effective 3
June 2019, succeeding Martin Monro.
BESIX Group Chief Executive Officer, Rik Vandenberghe, said the Group
was pleased to welcome Ben, a seasoned property and construction
executive to the business and looked forward to leveraging his expertise
across businesses and functions.
“Ben brings extensive experience in construction and engineering,
project management, PPP, property development and investment in addition
to having held senior executive roles both locally and internationally,”
Mr Vandenberghe said.
“I am confident Ben’s leadership of Watpac will further enhance the
business’s capabilities as a leading construction company while drawing
on the strength of its global network to deliver the exceptional
outcomes the business is known for.”
Mr O’Rourke said he was pleased to be joining Watpac as it progresses
its new position within the BESIX Group.
“I am delighted to have been appointed to lead Watpac and I look forward
to the next exciting chapter as we reposition ourselves and grow,” Mr
O’Rourke said.
“Watpac has a rich history as an Australian business and its
achievements to date have ensured a strong platform for the company from
which we now move forward.

In welcoming Mr O’Rourke, Mr Vandenberghe warmly thanks outgoing
Managing Director, Martin Monro, for his leadership of Watpac during its
time as a publicly listed company.

Mr Ben O’Rourke has over 25 years of experience in the property and construction industry, 10 years of which having been spent living and working abroad in Singapore and London. He has a career foundation in Project Management and Construction, and during a 20-year career with Lendlease, has held executive and business leadership roles across construction, property development, PPP, Civil Engineering and major integrated projects in Australia, Asia and the UK and Europe.
With a strong track record of driving project and business performance, Mr O’Rourke has a deep interest in the fundamentals that drive property risk and value. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science from QUT, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment from FINSIA and an MBA from the AGSM.
