John Holland: John Holland is delighted to be selected as the preferred proponent to deliver the final critical package of works for the Metro Tunnel Project to make commuting in Melbourne easier, faster and more reliable.

As part of the Rail Infrastructure Alliance, a consortium consisting of John Holland, CPB Contractors and AECOM, along with project owner Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) and rail franchisee Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), will deliver integral works that will support day one operations of the Metro Tunnel, Victoria’s biggest ever transport project.

The $1b package will include cut and cover and tunnelling works at the eastern and western tunnel entrances to connect the new rail tunnel to the existing network, along with additional selected station upgrades, tunnel, track and signalling works along the Sunbury and Dandenong lines.

This is the third package of Metro Tunnel works to be delivered by John Holland, following the delivery of the early works and the major works package to build the tunnels and stations.

Chief Executive Officer, Joe Barr said the Metro Tunnel Project will transform lives and opportunities for Victorians.

“When the Metro Tunnel opens in 2025, it will be a game changer – bringing a true metro-style rail system to Melbourne for the first time. John Holland is thrilled to be part of Rail Infrastructure Alliance and continue our involvement in this project to revolutionise public transport in Melbourne,” Mr Barr said.

Executive General Manager, Trevor Hall said the Rail Infrastructure Alliance will have a unique role in creating an integrated and operational rail system in Melbourne.

“The Metro Tunnel Project is a complex program of work that will ultimately improve people’s travel experience on all of our city’s suburban rail lines.

“Our team will operate in a spirit of collaboration with our delivery partners, stakeholders and local communities to deliver a world-class metro system that will enhance the liveability of our city.”
