Arup welcomes line-up of influential city leaders across the Australasia Region

18 April 2018

Arup: Over the past several months, Arup has enhanced its city shaping capabilities by appointing City Leaders in our major locations, as well as welcoming Tim Williams, former CEO of Committee for Sydney, as our new Australasia Cities Leader.

In addition to our new cities leadership line-up, our cross-sector expertise has been bolstered with a number of additional high-profile hires over the past 12 months, the most recent being Terry Lee-Williams, former Chief Transport Advisor for City of Sydney and Elizabeth Halsted, former Head of Innovation, Digital and Sustainability at Auckland Transport.

Terry Lee-Williams will work closely with our NSW teams as a Strategic Transport Advisor, leveraging his vast and commended experience on Sydney Metro, Transitways, Opal, and the Public Transport Information and Priority System to implement best practice place making and design on major infrastructure projects in the State.

Elizabeth Halsted will lead on the cities portfolio for New Zealand from our Auckland office. With experience on the Development of a Low Emission Bus Road Map for Auckland, the Auckland Transport Sustainability Framework, as well as holding a seat on the UK Intelligent Mobility work group up until 2014, Elizabeth is well positioned to support the development of city shaping projects around New Zealand.

We are partners to cities around the world, through our work on city shaping projects, as well as our partnerships with not-for-profit organisations like The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and the Rockefeller Foundation.

In this region we are providing our expertise on major urban regeneration projects like Fisherman’s Bend in Melbourne and Jurong Lake District in Singapore. We have worked, or are working, on every new light rail project in Australia and New Zealand to unlock our cities. Our leaders regularly consult with policy makers on opportunities to enhance the liveability, productivity and equality in our urban centres and our urban fringes.
