Lendlease to deliver Gawler Rail Electrification Project

Lendlease: has been selected by the South Australian Government as the preferred contractor to design and construct the Gawler Rail Electrification Project Stage 1.

The project involves the installation of the overhead wiring and signaling systems between Adelaide and Salisbury in addition to service relocations and modifications to existing infrastructure. The project will increase the capacity of one of Adelaide’s busiest rail lines.

Craig Laslett, CEO Engineering & Services, Lendlease said the company was proud to contribute its rail capability to help improve Adelaide’s rail network.

“This investment by the State Government will see a significant expansion of Adelaide’s electrified rail network, ensuring services between Adelaide and Salisbury are faster, cleaner and more frequent.

“In keeping with our commitment to South Australia, we will expand the operations of our NorthHub employment and training facility to the Gawler Rail Electrification Project, ensuring we drive even better outcomes for local workers and local industry.”

Lendlease’s track record in South Australia stretches back 70 years and today includes projects such as the Northern Connector Project, Air 7000 at Edinburgh Air Force Base, ANI Osborne South Shipyard and Blakes Crossing. Past projects include the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Oval, Flinders at Tonsley and the Southern Expressway Duplication project.
