New RAH reaches significant milestone

South Australian Government: The new Royal Adelaide Hospital has reached Technical Completion today, signalling the most important milestone in the project to date.
Technical Completion triggers the all-important testing and training period which will run for at least the next 90 days and ensure the hospital is ready for patients.
Over the coming weeks every aspect of the new RAH will be tested, stocked and prepared for patients.
Once all these activities have been successfully completed and the building is deemed fit for purpose, Commercial Acceptance will be granted.
Background
A team of more than 750 people will simulate 20 real time clinical scenarios from a trauma patient arriving via helicopter to a full scale evacuation.
The hospital will need to be fully stocked, with a fleet of trucks delivering nearly 2000 pallets of equipment, technology and supplies and this includes everything from infusion pumps and ventilators to bandages, needles and medicines.
During the next few months, training and orientation will be delivered to more than 7000 staff and volunteers, giving them the opportunity to become familiar with their new work environment before patients arrive later this year.
The State Government’s annual service payments commence at Commercial Acceptance.
